Crazy Cowboy Live Events presents The Main Grains + Special Guests Last Great Dreamers and The Idol Dead
Danny McCormack returns with fellow rock`n`roll hooligans and sonic assassins – guitarists Ben Marsden (ex- Modern day Dukes) and JJ Watt (ex – Spill 16 & Whiskey Haze) along with drummer Ginna Rhodes (ex – Psychobabylon & Phluid) to form THE MAIN GRAINS – quality purveyors of what they refer to as Northern Punk Rock. `Natch a must for all fans of The Wildhearts and The Yo-Yo`s here is a band infused with what rock`n`roll is truly all about – seriously bad-ass riffage, shout and reply choruses with a power pop edge and punk rock energy and attitude. A melting pot of The Ramones, The Wildhearts, Phil Spector, Blondie and full of what so much of todays bands miss out on totally – FUN !!!
While 2016 wasn’t the best of years due to to Danny suffering both an aneurysm and complications following it, which has led to the loss of his lower leg, the band still managed an unannounced debut at the NLC Rocking For The Children event in April, followed by successful shows at the Camden Barfly, and Camden Rocks festival, along with some dates with Ginger Wildheart and Ryan Hamilton & The Traitors in the summer, closing out the year with a great run of shows round the UK with The Wildhearts, and have started the 2017 in the same way, with big things to be announced as we go.
Since the band launched the official video of Unscrewed in January 2016 its has had thousands of views and hit the Number 1 slot on TBFM Online for over a month. Online blogs and magazine rave reviews for “Don`t Believe Everything You Think” are already pouring in from the UK, Europe and the USA – here is just a few of the things they have had to say so far :
Classic Rock Magazine: There’s definitely something to be said for sticking to your strengths and that’s exactly what you’ll find on this debut seven tracker from former Wildheart and Yo-Yo Danny McCormack – straightforward, no-nonsense punk’n’roll.
The Soul Of A Clown: Songs like that and “I’d Rather Be In California” make you feel like you have met up with a great long lost friend, who has already bought you a pint!!
Uber Rock : “Here comes the first great white hope of a punk rock`n`roll record that 2016 has offered us and, in true championing of the underdog fashion, at its head one of rock`n`rolls coolest characters – Danny McCormack. It`s a punchy slab of rock`n`roll that checks every box and doesn’t rely on sentiment to inspire and excite”.
Midland Rocks: The Main Grains could become one of the preeminent punk ‘n’ roll units the UK has to offer
Pure Rawk: The Main Grains come with an impressive rock pedigree and “Don’t Believe Everything You Think” is, as you would expect, a confident shot across the bows from them.
More Than Music: ” Remember when The Wildhearts crafted perfect three minute punk rock songs with a distinct pop edge – imagine The Ramones jamming with Cheap Trick and throw in a fair dollop of the New York Dolls sleaze and Stooges riffola – that is exactly what Danny McCormack and his new band have achieved, absolutely essential stuff from minute one”
Zcine Online : ” A refreshing example of what real punk should sound like – savagely catchy and honest to the core”
The Angels Wear Red : “It has been a while since I have heard a UK rock band produce such a joyous racket – dumb-ass punk rock`n`roll that invokes the spirit of all the best of everything from The Ramones to The Undertones…………….we gotta get these guys across to New York…………..and soon !!!”
The band have also once more been confirmed for this years CAMDEN ROCKS bash in London in June and further UK dates will be announced soon
Last Great Dreamers with their distinctly British take on power-pop are the best band you’ve probably never heard. They built a formidable live reputation in the mid 90’s with their shimmering glam style. Their debut album Retrosexual, a love letter to the early ’70s glam scene, caught the attention of Kerrang! magazine, resulting in an awards nomination for ‘best new band’ before tragedy and disillusionment forced the band to call it a day.
In 2014 they staged a fabulous comeback releasing an album of rarities, the critically acclaimed ‘Crash Landing In Teenage Heaven’ and have since in 2015 toured with Runaway’s singer Cherie Currie & in 2016 opened for bands such as the Darkness, Terrorvision, Hey Hello & Tigertailz and released 2 brand new singles ‘Dope School’, & ‘Glitterball Apocalypse’ both achieving no.1 status on the TBFM/HRH radio network charts.
Promoting their latest album Transmission From Oblivion, which has received rave reviews in Classic Rock & Vive Le Rock to name a few, this Spring LGD have just completed a hugely successful 16 date UK tour as special guests to The Quireboys plus have played the main stage HRHAOR Festival in UK & Ibiza!
Influences & comparisons are diverse & include the likes of T-Rex, Mott, Hanoi Rocks, The Kinks, Green Day & Cheap trick, what’s for sure is that their live energetic show will be full of powerful & catchy pop songs, full of energy, emotion, grit & glamour!
